Our Preschool Centers

A couple months ago I posted this post about the center signs that I created with my Cricut.  Now I am sharing pictures of our actual centers with the center signs in play!  We are lucky enough to have two classrooms.  One regular classroom and one centers classroom.  Here are photos from our center's classroom.

Only two students are allowed at each center.  Each student has a clothespin programmed with thier name.  To go to a center they clip thier clip to the number 1 or number 2 on the center sign of the center they wish to go to.  If they would like to switch centers they simply move thier clip.  I do not require that my students visit certain centers.  It is completely thier choice.  Although, I have found that all students has visited all centers on thier own throughout time.    I was amazed at how easy the clip system was with my pre-k students.  They picked up on the system quickly and we rarely have any issues during center time.

Library: books and bean bags

Table Games: file folder games, manufactured games and manipulatives

Music: musical instruments

Alphabet: various abc games

Sensory: for the month of Nov: beans and feathers (we call them turkey feathers!)

Art: easel, different drawing utencils, tracing and rubbing templates, crazy scissors and paper

Writing: letter stamps, different writing utencils, writing paper, notebooks, post-its, stickers (sticker stories) and 'mailboxes' (I used stacking trays programmed with students names).

Blocks: lego table, legos and blocks

Pretend:  Currently we have puppets and a puppet theatre.  In December I plan on having a small Christmas tree to decorate.  Later in the year I plan on having a grocery store with cash register and empty food boxes.
