Bunny Mallow Freebies

Hello Bunny Mallows!
It seems that my lil’ C must try every type of marshmallow she sees in the stores.  We’ve had Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and GIANT marshmallows.

So, of course for Easter we must have the Bunny marshmallows from Jet Puffed.
Well, why not make them educational!  I created a few printables last year, but as my littles grow I found a need to add to the pack.
Included in this FREE download are the printables posted last year (now removed because they were on Scribd) and the new ones, all in one simple download.

A Trip to the Vet

All kids love animals (especially the stuffed ones), so this Vet Clinic will most likely be hit with your little ones!

I set up our Vet Clinic last night and my little C was SO excited!

DSC06556

I used our play kitchen as a ‘wall’ and storage for the vet clinic.  I have done this in the past and it works out really great.

In the photo above, you can see the back of our play kitchen.  This is where the waiting rooms are and the sign in sheet.

Here is the inside of our vet clinic.  I added a table for the children to ‘work’ on their animal.  I also added a dog cage, clipboards with forms attached and doctor supplies, of course!

DSC06563

I have laminated the forms and we use Dry Erase Crayons.  I love using Dry Erase crayons because they wipe off easily and are less smelly than dry erase markers.

I also created tags for our dogs and cats at our Vet Clinic to wear.  These are included in the Pretend Play Vet Clinic Printables (see below).  I printed the tags, cut them apart, punched a hole in them and attached them to a real collar with string (collar found at the dollar store).  I also used stretchy headbands as collars and attached the tags with strings.  This has worked out very well because the kids can slip the stretchy band over the stuffed animals head to use as a collar.

Easter Inspired Math Games {freebies}

Oh, Spring… how I love you!

So, we moved last fall and the windows in our new (new to us) house are awful!  But, we have got new ones coming and I can’t wait to throw them open (yes, some of our old windows don’t even stay open..grr) and smell the Spring air!

But, until then, I will just create Spring like things to get me in the mood!

Bunny Grid Game
I love grid games for counting practice, plus this type of game encourages left to right & top to bottom progression.  Just what we do when we read Winking smile

Roll-Count-Color
This type of game requires 1 or 2 dice.  The first page uses just a die.  Roll it, find the corresponding number and color one egg with that number.  The second page uses 2 dice.  Roll both, add together and color one egg with the sum.
Each child gets to be a winner when the whole board is colored!

‘Watch Me Grow’ Printables

As an educator I feel that we as parents need to give our children the best possible start to life.  For me, this means providing my children with many different opportunities to learn and explore.  Whether it be in our environment, through books or from other children…learning is always happening.
I also want to make sure that my children are on tract to be successful when starting school.  This is why I have created these ‘Watch Me Grow’ printables.  As a former teacher and parent educator, I know that providing experiences are important.  For example, we expect a young toddler to learn to use a spoon when eating.  This is something that he/she would never be able to learn if you, the parent, did not provide a spoon and the scoopable food.
grow-with-me
I use these printables by putting them in order in a file folder and stapling them at the top. Every week or two I go through the list for my child’s age level and highlight all the skills I have seen him complete.  Simple and easy.  But, it also reminds me of the opportunities I need to provide him with to help him learn.

Painting in many different ways!

We do a lot of painting during preschool time.  The girls love creating masterpieces and love all the creativity and fine motor skill practice!

Here are some different ways we have painted this year:

Squeezing eye-droppers (we were creating rain drops) with watered down paint.  Great fine motor!

Blowing paint with a straw.  I used watercolors and dripped dots of paint on the paper, then the girls used thier wind power to make a neat painting!
Painting with feathers.

Painting with Q-tips.

Painting with a mixture of paint and shaving cream.

Painting with a marble.  Place the paper, a drop of paint and a marble inside a box. Now, move the box back and forth and side to side.

Painting with yarn (very fun!).

Painting with colored ice cubes.  Just add food coloring to water before freezing.

Or how about painting with your feet!!!
