Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!


Wow!  It is already the third week of the Summer Story Workshop Series, can you believe it?!?

This week is all about Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by John Archambault and Bill Martin Jr.


This amazing alphabet story is a staple in most homes and classrooms.  But, it's not just an alphabet story.  It has rhyming, rhythm and a story sequence.




Pre-K
*letter identification
*sorting out letters in our name
* re-telling a story
*counting with coconuts
*matching letters
*ABC sequencing
*Coconut playdough for fine motor work

Kindergarten
*letter and sound identification
*sorting letters by attributes (curved, straight, capital, lowercase)
* Class book: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, will there be enough room?  Here comes *Andy* up the coconut tree.
*5 senses to observe a coconut
*Uppercase to lowercase match

First/Second Grade

    How do we enter the Chicka, Chicka, giveaway?
    I have used this book for year. One of the things I would have my kiddos do is write their name and then find words that begin with each letter in their name and write it below the letter. Not sure if that makes sense. Please let me know.
