Learning Material Organization

Extra space is an issue in our house.  Luckily, we have a basement area that I can take over as a playroom/ tot school room and craft room.  I try to find ways to organize learning materials that work for me.  So, today I am going to share some of the ways I organize.  They are nothing fancy- but they work for me!

Rolling Carts

I have a large rolling cart and a smaller one.  The large one holds learning packs, paint, pom pons, craft stems... you know all those much needed craft supplies!  The smaller one holds manipulatives that I use on our tot trays.  I keep them in the rolling cart and in a closet.  These are the types of manipulatives I don't want C to have out all the time.

In the smaller rolling cart I have counters in one drawer.  In another drawer I have scoops, funnels, a muffin tin, egg carton, ice cube trays and measuring cups.  The last drawer has sorting, beading and lacing activities.

Pull out drawers

To sort all of our paper, crayons, markers, stickers and so much more, I use 4 3-drawer organizing plastic tubs.  I love it because C can easily pull out the drawer and use the whole crayon drawer when drawing.

Toy Boxes

I got this at Target back when I was still teaching. Right now it holds various toys, puzzles and blocks.  These things are available to C when she is just coming down to the basement to play.  But, I also pull from it when doing tot trays.  I find that some of the toys/materials get looked over and forgot about.  But, when I put them on a tot tray, they seem so new!

New Baggie Games!

SO.... my computer had a little virus a couple weeks ago.  Ok, little is an understatement!  Therefore, I have been way behind on what I wanted to get accomplished for my Me and Marie Learning Store.  But, hubby has been working hard to get me back and running!  Last week I created 2 new baggie games and I wanted to share them with you!

Baggie Games are games that fit in a sandwich bag.  They are great for on the go.  They are also great while waiting in waiting rooms and at resturants.  Each Baggie Game Set includes 3 games, all on the same theme but challenging different skills.

Preschool Center Signs

I spent some of my weekend with my Cricut Personal Cutter.  I love my Cricut, it is the easiest way to make diecuts of many sizes.  This weekend I worked on Center or Station signs for my preschool classroom.  I think they turned out pretty cute!  I used Sesame Street Font to cut letters and numbers.  I laminated my signs with my Scotch Laminator from Wal-Mart.  I love it!

Each sign will hang near the center itself.  There is a spot on each sign labeled with a 1 and a 2.  This is to keep the number of students in each center to 2 only.  I don't have huge class, so I created 9 center signs.  Check them out below.

When a child wishes to go to a center they take a clothespin with thier name on it and clips it to the 1 or 2 spot on the center sign.  When both the spots on the sign are taken it means the center is full.  Then, if a child moves from that center they take the clothespin with them and they clip it to the next center sign.
